Mercury Dealers Want More Before Closing

The end of Mercury is looming: in less than two months the final Mercury models will roll off assembly lines. No more new Mariners and Milans. The circular logo will cease to exist.

With that, 1700 Mercury-specific dealerships nationwide are either closing their doors or morphing into the LINCOLN brand. 1000 dealers signed an agreement with Ford (Mercury's parent company) to take a moderate sum of money and walk on. But many of those 1000 are starting to feel like they've been a little stiffed.

Mercury to End Production on October 3rd

Mercury, a supplier of successful automobiles like the Cougar and Sable, is stopping production closing its doors. The American automotive subsidiary of Ford plans to end its production line by October 3rd of this year.

According to Automobile Mag, production will stop on the following schedule: "the Panther platform Grand Marquis completes its assigned duties on September 30, followed by the Mercury-badged Explorer -- the Mountaineer  -- on October 1. The Milan  line ends on October 2 and the Mariner  will wrap up production on October 3."
