Every internal combustion engine requires motor oil to run properly. Engine oil prevents wear, friction, and permanent engine damage, which is why bringing your Ford car, truck, or SUV in for regular oil changes is so important. Once oil wears out over time, it can cause the pistons and engine to heat up, which might lead to engine failure and a huge repair bill if you don’t change your oil.
Modern Fords use high-tech advances, like an oil-life monitor (OLM), and vaunted engineering to help you get the most out of your new vehicle. As such, the Ford oil type you need depends on your specific model and year as you drive on Fayetteville and Springdale roads and highways.
Read on to discover more information about the recommended Ford oil type for popular models thanks to our handy guide from Superior Ford. We want you to get the most out of your Ford ownership!
Ford recommends its Motorcraft brand of oil for its vehicles. Motorcraft meets Ford’s strict standards for quality as it works to keep your engine in top shape. In general, Ford recommends SAE 5W-20 or 5W-30 for most of its vehicles. Hybrid vehicles may require 0W-20, which works better at lower temperatures. You can choose another brand of oil, but it must meet Ford’s standards for quality. You should check your owner’s manual or driver information screen to see which oil you should use for your specific model and year.
You will have a choice when you bring your vehicle in for an oil change at Superior Ford. Your vehicle can take conventional (regular) oil or full synthetic oil. Our service team highly recommends full synthetic oil because it better suits your Ford engine and it will last longer. Plus, Motorcraft only manufactures full synthetic or synthetic blend motor oils.
Full synthetic oil is more expensive upfront when you pay for an oil change. However, instead of oil changes every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, like for older vehicles, you may not need to change the oil until after 7,500 miles or even as long as 10,000 miles. You’ll save money over the long term since you have fewer oil changes in Rogers. It’s up to you, but full synthetic oil is the better choice for the longevity of your vehicle.
OEM parts, including Motorcraft oil and oil filters, are best for your Ford because the manufacturer specifically formulates the oil for its engines. Also, having the right Ford oil type can help you maintain your warranty. For peace of mind, all Motorcraft parts have a two-year warranty.
For modern Ford Fusion sedans, the manufacturer suggests SAE 5W-20 or SAE 5W-30 Motorcraft full synthetic oil for the gasoline engine. If you own a Ford Fusion hybrid, Ford recommends SAE 0W-20 oil that works for lower temperatures.
Your Ford Fusion oil type and the oil change interval depend on what the owner’s manual or the OLM says. When you bring your Ford Fusion to our dealership, we’ll make sure it gets the right motor oil!
Your Ford F-150 oil type depends on the kind of engine you have. For a gasoline engine, we recommend SAE 5W-20 or SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil. If you’ve got a 3.0L or 2.0L diesel Transit engine, use Motorcraft SAE 5W-30 full synthetic diesel oil because diesel engines are configured differently than gasoline engines. Either way, you get a fantastic Ford F-150 oil type!
